NSCACP - Nova Scotia College of Spiritual Care Practitioners (Institute of Pastoral Training)

Transition Working Group:

On December 31, 2006, CAPPE Atlantic ceased to exist and Institute of Pastoral Training, which was established by Nova Scotia legislation in 1958, expanded its mandate to take on the functions of CAPPE Atlantic.  However, after three years, this configuration did not seem to be functioning well.  At the June 2010 AGM, the voting membership present agreed to divide the functions into the two former entities, now Nova Scotia College of Spiritual Care Practitioners (IPT) and CASC Atlantic.  CASC Atlantic will be responsible for CPE and other CASC functions in Atlantic Canada and NSCSCP will be responsible for the registration of professional spiritual care practitioners, standards of professional practice, and promotion of this vital profession in Nova Scotia.

Working groups have been formed for each of the institutions with a mandate to oversee the necessary restructuring.  NSCSCP has been diligently working on reorganizing its administration, reworking its bylaws and regulations, and preparing itself to seek sole legislative authority for the registration of professionals practicing spiritual care in Nova Scotia.
