Royal Alexandra Hospital Edmonton

CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION & PASTORAL COUNSELING EDUCATION:

The Royal Alexandra Hospital invites you to consider the following: 

  • a residency which combines PCE/CPE. 
  • a multicultural emphasis including aboriginal spirituality. 
  • a staff consisting of 3 supervisors and three specialists with a wide range of experience. 
  • a broad vision of ministry. 
  • interactive with the community.

We are pleased to offer you the following education programs:

RESIDENCY-CPE/PCE:

This unique combination offers year long education (Sept. - Aug.) providing four units of CPE/PCE at advanced and supervisory levels. A stipend of approximately $22,500 (plus benefits) is available. Meets CAPPE, ACPE, AAMFT and AAPC standards. (Minimum requirement of one previous unit SPE).

 

INTERNSHIP-PCE:

One unit of counseling education in an extended unit (2 days per week, Sept. - June) Meets CAPPE, ACPE, AAMFT and AAPC standards.

 

PASTORAL CARE FELLOW PROGRAM

This 12 month fellowship position is designed for a person who has finished his/her advanced education, and needs 2000 hours of clinical work experience required by CAPPE for certification as a clinical specialist. The position is also open to applicants who are seasoned clinicians wanting to begin training as an educator in the field.

 Prerequistes:

  • Two advanced units of CPE and all the requirements to be certified as a Specialist.
  • If a candidate applies for the educator position, they must be a Clinical Specialist.  

Dates: Beginning of September 2008 to the end of August 2009  
Stipend: $48, 500 plus benefits  
Deadline for applications: April 15, 2008

 

ABORIGINAL CULTURAL HELPER EDUCATION
"Learning About the Role of a Hospital Aboriginal Cultural Helper”


The program offers a one-year training program from September 2, 2008 to August 31, 2009, during which the successful applicant will learn about providing care and cultural support to Aboriginal patients and their families in the hospital setting.

Applicants must have:

  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Ability to work in a multicultural hospital environment
  • Openness to Aboriginal cultural ceremonies
  • Ability to form caring relationships

A Stipend is provided during the training program.
