Saint Paul University

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program
September, January and May Intensive and Extended CPE Units

Saint Paul University offers CPE programs as part of the Masters of the University and students are welcome as special students who take the CPE program or as Masters students who take the CPE program in conjunction with the two-year Masters in Counselling and Spirituality, Spiritual Care.

This CPE program in Spiritual Care program is accredited by the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CAPPE) and the Masters program is equivalent to four (or more) units of Clinical Pastoral Education. CAPPE accredited supervisors supervise training and each practicum is done at Ottawa hospitals or a prison setting. Full and part-time professors in the university teach the university courses.

Admission Requirements for Special Students :

1) Experiences and/or courses in theology and psychology

Admission Requirements for Masters Students:

An honors (120 credit) bachelor’s degree or equivalent, which includes:

1) 18 credits of foundational theology at university level
2) 24 credits in human sciences of which 12 credits must be psychology; the other 12 credits may be taken in psychology or sociology.
3) 24 other university level credits in psychology, sociology, social work, human sciences, theology or related disciplines
4) Participation in their faith community for those who desire to do Advanced units

Tuition:

Special Students register for two university courses (Practicum and Theology/ Psychology Studies) per CPE unit and Tuition is $675.00 per course.

Masters Students Register for four semesters of university study and CPE practicum and Tuition is $1800.00 per semester.
